Housing Resource Centre

We provide expert information, training and advice to housing professionals. Work with us to end homelessness in your area.

Homelessness ends with housing

We know that a combination of decreasing supply of affordable housing, reductions in local government funding and welfare reforms among other pressures are directly leading to increases in homelessness.

Whilst we continue to campaign for the policy changes needed to end homelessness, we will also develop practical solutions to homelessness which we will share widely and support others to implement.

Our aim is to see full national scale-up of Housing First as part of a Rapid Re-housing approach, and to achieve this we have partnered with Homeless Link in the development of the Housing First England project.

Scotland’s Housing Minister will today pledge his support to Crisis, as it starts to build a plan to end homelessness in Scotland for good. Kevin Stewart MSP’s support comes after the First Minister, Nicola Sturgeon, also pledged to work with Crisis to achieve its aims of ending homelessness.

Today the Homelessness Reduction Bill cleared its third and final reading in the House of Lords. This comes as new homelessness statistics released today show that the number of households in temporary accommodation in England rose by 10% over the course of 2016.

Almost two thirds (64%) of councils across England are struggling to find social tenancies for homeless people, while half find it 'very difficult' to assist applicants into privately rented accommodation, according to a report published today by Crisis and the Joseph Rowntree Foundation (JRF).
